Profile of users under treatment
Most of the patients being treated (73%) were poliusuaria, that is, they used more than one drug. In 68% of the cases, those undergoing rehabilitation were marijuana users, combined with other substances. The average time of substance use was 13 years, but the family perceives only 8.8 years of use, on average. With the rehab for drugs this is essential.
From the discovery of the family, the average time to seek help after knowledge of alcohol and / or drug use was three years, two years for cocaine and / or crack users and 7.3 years among dependents.
Alcohol

It is the world’s largest research on drug addicts, according to Ronaldo Laranjeira, one of the study’s coordinators. Between 2012 and 2013, data were released on the use of cannabis, cocaine and their derivatives, in addition to alcohol consumption. From these results, the researchers estimate that 5.7% of Brazilians are drug addicts, an index that represents more than 8 million people.

Lenad pointed out that 58% of hospitalization cases were paid by the family member and the impact of treatment affected 45.4% of respondents. In 9% of cases there was coverage of some type of agreement. The use of public hospitals, through the Unified Health System (SUS), was cited by 6.5% of families of users in rehabilitation.
Also according to the study, 61.6% of families have other family members who use drugs. Of this total, 57.6% have dependents within the family nucleus. However, respondents disregard this factor as high risk for patient substance use.
Of this total, 46.8% believe that bad company influenced their family member to drug use. Already 26.1% blame low self-esteem as responsible for the search for narcotics.
Cocaine, Marijuana and Alcohol:
